As an early proponent of declaring the New Jersey Pine Barrens a National Preserve, Angelo Dellomo’s efforts, along with other like-minded individuals, helped lead to multiple laws protecting the natural resources of the more than 1.1 million acres of land that call the Pine Barrens home. In another effort to preserve New Jersey’s amazing natural resources, Dellomo served as an alternate representative on the Great Egg Harbor River Study Commission for Hamilton Township, which led to the inclusion of the river into the National Wild & Scenic River program.

Dellomo’s fondness for history in the area led him to join the Atlantic County Historical Society where he has served as both Director and President at different points. One topic of great interest to Pine Barrens buffs are the still existing ghost town ruins, some dating back to colonial times, all rich in local history. It is with great enthusiasm that Dellomo continues to present on the subject, as guest speaker, at the South Jersey History Seminar at the Smithville Inn, and at similar events throughout south Jersey.
